Fruits of Summer

Peaches

Sugarbaby Watermelon

AHHHHHH the fruits of summer, how sweet they are. Roadside fruit stands every where you look, selling the wonderful fruits of summer. We recently stopped by a stand and picked up some of summer's harvest. I had a craving for peaches and Sean was looking for tomatoes. We found the peaches at a roadside stand in Milton, the tomatoes just didn't look that good so we passed on them, we did however see a tarp covered with four different varieties of watermelon. We chose a sugerbaby, it compact size and sweetness of that variety made it a good choice for the two of us. We returned home and placed our bounty in the fridge to chill. Later that night we tried the peaches, biting into the sweet flesh, with juice running down our chins we were in peach heaven. We had forgotten about the watermelon for a few days but when we remembered it we found it to be ice cold. Sean cut into the dark green skin, revealing a red core dripping with sweet juice. The melon was cold, crisp, juicy and oh so sweet. A very refreshing taste of summer in a little green ball. The peaches are now gone as is the watermelon, this weekend on our outing we again will be in search of the little stand by the side of the road with a teenage girl in a ponytail helping her parents sell the wonderful tastes of summer, nothing better than fresh fruits and vegetables right off the farm. Support you local farmers, you will be glad you did.
Did I mention I too have a peach tree, well I have two but the one really doesn't count as it is still so small. We also have two apple trees, a Meyer lemon, tangerine and orange tree. Sean and I planted them just to see if they would grow. This spring I was so excited the trees all had blossoms on them. In a few weeks there appeared tiny fruits, The peach tree had a bunch of peaches starting, the apple trees only had a few and the citrus trees were loaded with tiny fruits. One by one the peaches started to disappear off the tree, don't know if it was a squirrel or the birds, one apple tree lost all its fruits and the other one only had one. I watched the peach tree and the progress it was making in growing the fruits, now down to three peaches. I went out one day and there was only one peach left and it was a the top of the tree. I waited till that lonely peach started to blush and than I snapped it off and took my prize to the house. I washed my lonely peach and cut it into four section, Sean and I both took a bite and WOW was that a good peach. I was bound and determined to try a fruit that I had grown, I am hoping that next year I will have more than one. The trees are all really young and in years to come I hope they will provide us with their fruits of summer. As for the apple, it is still growing bigger everyday, and the citrus tree, well two of them are loaded, I think they are the tangerine and lemon trees, can't wait till they mature...YUMMMM

Is there a full moon

Full Moon Tonight? No it is a half moon tonight, I just looked it up. But the way things are going today I would swear there is a full moon. Maybe there is a really bad storm heading our way, WHY do you ask, Good Question. Animals are acting really crazy, not my dogs, they act crazy all the time. One dog in heat next thing you know all the girls are in heat driving poor Rascal crazy, can you say Pomtese or would it be Maltianian. But that is not what I was referring to. Tonight it is the wild creatures that are acting up. I will explain, I opened the back door to let the dogs out for a potty run. I noticed that there was a little bird on the porch of Sean's workshop. A second bird popped up from the porch and sat on the railing, next thing I knew the little bird had flown into the opened door where I was standing. GREAT, now there is a bird loose in the house, and from past experience they are not the easiest things to get out. I closed the back door and followed the bird into my living room, I then opened the front door, WHAT WAS THAT, something just ran past my foot. GREAT, another critter loose in the house, this time it looked to be some kind of little lizard and could that critter move. Anyway I propped open the front door and looked around and no bird, where did it go? There it is, it flew past me and out the front door. Now for the other critter, WHERE DID IT GO, out the door, NOOOOOOOOO it headed for the desk area and I have no clue where it is. My luck I will be sitting at the computer and something will crawl up my leg sending the chair flying and me scaring the dogs with a blood curdling scream, or one of the dogs will find a new play toy. Am I worried, Not really, Well, a little, if I had only gotten a really good look at this critter and identified it as a chameleon and not something else, but it was moving really fast as it came in the house. I am still wondering how it got past the screen door. WEIRD THINGS ARE HAPPENING and there isn't a full moon.

Road to Recovery

The above photos are of the new pond area in front of Sean's workshop. He needs to get the water feature installed and we will be all set.

This is our little Roxy Girl, she is finally coming out of the puppy ugly stage. She on the Road to Recovery, and is starting to get her Pom coat. She is such a spoiled kid, always into trouble. Her newest fit of misbehaving has to do with the bowls in the kitchen. From the time she first came to live here she has taken over the dog food bowls, she would lay in the bowl when she was eating, just to make sure that none of the other dogs could steal her food, she still does this. Lately she has taken to playing in the water bowl. It has been getting really hot here and when the dogs come in from their potty and play romps in the back yard the little girl will go to the water bowl and splash the water out of the bowl. Guess she is just hot and trying to find a way to cool down. Wonder if we should invest in a puppy pool for the yard so I don't have water all over my kitchen floor. I have taken to putting up a makeshift gate to keep her in the living room and out of trouble, but this is not a total fix. I will just be so happy when we get out of the puppy stages.
As for me, I am still taking it easy, just cross stitching at night, not doing that much till my health gets better. Doctor is trying to control the symptoms with medications, I really hope this works.

A little of this and that

boy im ugly
This is Piper, Melanie's puppy and she has a case of the puppy uglies too. To be truthful I think she is the winner. Roxy was ugly but she is coming out of the puppy uglies and she is getting a fuzzy coat, Piper looks like she is starting to come out too, but she still looks like a Gremlin after they transformed, just check out the ears.. She could take off with that wing span..LOL She is so sweet, guess we shouldn't be making fun of her, Ugly ducklings become beautiful swans one day.

Now for Jack, this is Jenny's oldest son and for the longest time we just weren't sure what he was doing. I said he was trying to look like a Jonas Brother, but maybe he was just trying to hide behind the mop of hair he had. Of course the GIRLS loved it, that might be why he let it grow and he says girls arn't important. RIGHT>>>

Thank heaven for summer camp, his parents made him get his hair cut for camp. Now they didn't make him get a crew cut or even a really super short haircut, just sometime a little neater. He can now see and I am sure he will be cooler too. Besides he is such a handsome boy and now we can see his face, now if Jenny can just get him to smile now and than. Jack is such a serious child, he always has been.

As for the home front, Just doing the ebay thing and the third listing was done is three sections, one part ended last night, one part ends today and the relisted part ends in two days. 1st part was Lavender and Lace cross stitch patterns sold almost all of them, second part was Stampin Up Stamps and right now they look like they are doing really good to, hopefully they will all sell. I still have tons of Mom's pattern books ready to list as well as a bunch of other stuff. Still learning on the shipping end and trying to get it right.

My remodel of the house has began again. Having two new puppies in the house is kind of a whole other subject. Rascal learned how to pull wallpaper off the walls in the hallway and then when Roxy moves in I find both pups in the hall, he is tearing paper and she is watching and learning. Yes, she learned really well, she has been caught a few times with parts of the wall paper. So the other night I proceeded to complete what the two pups started. Now this is not the first time a puppy has tried to redecorate the hall. When Sharon house sat for us when her dog Brownie was a pup, Brownie took off a big chunk of paper and even chewed the wall. Poor Sharon she was so upset by what her dog had done she didn't get any sleep that night and she called me the next day so upset. Gee, no big deal was my response, after all it was a puppy and puppies do that kind of thing, besides I had paper to repair the damage. This time, no extra paper so it has to be changed so I took all the wallpaper down, repaired pinholes, and now need to sand. Of course I was watched closely by two little poms, guess they couldn't figure out why I yelled at them for tearing down the paper and here I was tearing it off the wall. I was going to paint but Saturday on our yard sale outing I found a wallpaper that I liked and I got them for $1.00 for each roll. I don't think the guy was supposed to sell the wallpaper, but he kept saying he wanted his garage back, I wonder if he was in the dog house when his wife came home from work.. OH WELL

Let the bidding begin!!!

  • I have finally done it, I am now a seller on ebay. So far I have had two sets of auctions and I am in the process of listing my third attempt. So far so good with my auctions, I am still learning and I find that each time I do a listing I will change things, kinda of a learn as you go thing. It is pretty fun, and hopefully it will show a profit. I am starting out small with the items, just till I get the hang of it all. We have been ebay buyers for years and always talked about selling, but we just never got around to it. So I gathered up some small items, sat down at the computer and proceeded to learn. My job is listing and dealing with the auction, Sean's job is shipping. Wish us well in this newest adventure.
  • We are still addicted to our local auction's, although I find now when we go we do not buy as much as we did in the past. Why you ask, well the glass cabinet is full, doll cabinet is full, don't need anymore dishes, nor tools, no more collecting Salt and Peppers for Melanie (she has enough now and I am afraid if she got more her hubby would move her out to the garage with them) Jenny said she don't need or want anything other than a bigger house. Wait I'm a ebay seller now, might be a new outlet for my auction buys, we will just have to see where it all leads.
  • Puppies are both doing really well, Roxy is starting to come out of the puppy ugly stage. Rascal is still a spoiled little boy and the Maltese crew, well they now like Rascal and will play with him. Yesterday was bath day, Sean said the puppy smelled so she got a bath. We have had rain everyday which makes the fence area of the yard a muddy mess, and where do the white dogs go, yep to the fence. So they got a bath as well, now everyone is nice and clean and smells really good, wonder how long this will last.
  • One year ago Sean was fighting for his life in the Cardiac unit. It was quite a trying time for all of us, one I hope we never have to repeat. Today he is healthy and active and pretty much back to his old self. I thank his wonderful doctor's and surgeons for taking care of him, fixing his problems and for giving me back my loving and caring husband.

UGLY Pomerian Puppy

Rascal at 8 weeks (Fluffy Puppy)
Rascal at 14 weeks (puppy ugly stage)
Rascal at 6 months (So Pretty and fluffy)
Roxy at 8 weeks (Fluffy Puppy)
Roxy at 13 Weeks (Puppy ugly stage)

The Ugly Pomerian Puppy stage, yes this is real stage all Poms go through. We got Rascal when he was 14 weeks old and he was just starting to come out of this stage. Roxie was such a cute little ball of fur, she is now in that almost bald stage, she had the bald face a week ago but she is now getting fur on her face. Rascal was a Silver Merle color when we got him, he had the merle spots on his side and he was a light silver color. He is now Champagne and no merle marks at all. Roxy was Mahogany Sable as a tiny pup but her new coat is coming in very Red Sable. Heather and Melanie come out Sunday and Heather kept saying how ugly the puppy was and laughing at her. She did say that the puppy was so ugly she was cute. Just wait Heather she will be beautiful real soon.
Mother's Day
Jenny called Saturday night saying she wanted to be the first to wish me a Happy Mother's Day, Sunday, I got a call from my son in Pa./ Melanie and Heather came over and we went to the local Steakhouse so I didn't have to cook. We also spent hours going thru the embroidery floss I got at a yard sale, of course Heather said this is a old lady thing.... We had a good day on Sunday.
