In Loving Memory of our Shy Guy

In loving Memory of our Shy Guy,
 who passed away
Monday, December 20, 2010
Shy Guy was born in this house to Shania 10 years ago.. He was the first puppy to be sold from the litter of 4 by a man I worked with, he would be his wife's birthday present. But when she came to see the puppy she decided she liked the other little boy. Shy was then chosen and purchased by a friend and she took him home, but brought him back three days later due to problems with her grandmother.. My husband had already decided to keep Miss Sis from that litter, but I told my husband that Shy was sold twice and both times he came back to me.. I took it as a sign that I was supposed to keep this precious little boy with me, so Shy became part of our family. He was a very shy little boy, When he was a puppy I always had a time finding him for he would hide.. He hid behind the drapes, he hid in the shelving unit by the desk, he hid under the curio cabinet and one day after looking in all his normal hiding places I started to panic as the tiny puppy was missing and I had no clue where to find him.  I called and called and called and found all the other puppies, but no shy... That is the day he got his name Shy Guy... I did finally find him, he had crawled in the back of my husbands recliner and fallen asleep, if the Velcro hadn't look strange I might not have found him then. He was snuggled in the sling of the back and was sound asleep.
Shy has given us so many wonderful moments to remember and I will cherish them all.
I had been getting myself ready to lose his Sister as she has cancer and I keep putting off having her put to sleep, but now as long as she is pain free she will be here, she will make the decision when to join Shy. Mariah the other Maltese in the photo has a really bad heart and we had expected her to pass a long time ago, you see she has a PDA heart that the Vet says is really bad. They told us she wouldn't live to be 6mos old.  So I have been waiting for the day she won't be with us.  OH did I mention she is now 9 years old, We never told her she was sick, so she acts like a healthy dog and the vets are amazed by her.
Shy's passing was unexpected, and something I wasn't ready for, he was the healthiest of the Maltese dogs and he went so fast.
Shy is the little boy in the middle, and yes he is smiling... something my hubby taught him to do.. If there was something missing or I found something like flowers from my craft room in the middle of the living room floor, all I would have to do is ask who took it and Shy would just smile, YEP he would be the guilty party. If you got out the camera and said smile, he would show his pearly whites..
Shy Guy
Thank you for all the wonderful times you have shared with us. Thank you for staying by my side when I was sick, Thank you for providing warmth on those cold winter nights. Thank you for making us laugh. Thank you for being my friend.. My dear sweet boy you will be dearly missed in this house,

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Quilts are finally done

Mel picked up the bookmarks, books, tote bags, eyeglass cases and cards this past weekend to take to the nursing home. Plus I just finished the 7 quilts that will also make the journey to Century Care Center for Christmas Delivery. It took some time, but they are finished and I am tired and ready to hibernate. The reason I want to hibernate... Let me tell you.... I moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and warm temps of the area... and for most part we have mild temps here.  There has even been times that the kids came over for Christmas in shorts... BUT not this year...It is cold, really cold... My ponds are freezing over and that is a first. So I think I will turn the electric blanket on and crawl into my comfy warm bed and leave a note on the door that I don't want to be disturbed until the spring thaw... think it will work.....

OK now back to the reason for this lovely post... without further ado the quilts.

Roses and Ribbons Cancer Quilt.. This quilt had CCS Roses and embroidered lilac ribbons *(symbol of all cancers)  This quilt will go to a cancer patient

                                                                     Floral Beauty Quilt

                                                                           Flower Quilt

Hat Quilt, this is one of my Favorites

                                                                 Playing Card Quilt

Roses and Fans Cancer Quilt  This is the second quilt for a cancer patient

And just so the back of the quilts are not forgotten, here they are

All these quilts are a group effort, the ladies from The World of Charity Stitchers lovingly stitched the designs and then sent them to me, I in turn made them into these lovely quilts.  And yes I do stitch as well, I have one square in the Angel Quilt, two squares in the Rose and Fan Quilt and Two Squares in the Playing Card Quilt.
My Charity quilt total for this year is 14 quilts, plus numerous tote bags, and eyeglass cases.
Most of the quilts I make are delivered to a nursing home or cancer patients, but I have sent one to a three year old heart patient in TX. Plus the totes went to a abused women and children's shelter.
I provide my own fabrics and my supplies of fabrics are what I can find at yard and church sales.
If any of my quilting friends have fabric they would like to donate to my cause you can send me your unwanted fabrics, I could sure use it. Also if you have any Accuquilt Dies that your don't want I would love to give them a good home, as Santa is bringing me a Accuquilt GO for my Christmas Present this year. I can not wait to start using my GO, it should make my charity quilting go much faster.
Merry Christmas to one and all

She does deserve a big hand for putting on this event..She works so hard to make it work and make sure everyone stays within the guidelines and has a good time. Plus she is a wonderful artist who offers her work at the event.. To find out more information and the rules of the event go to The Whimsical Bohemian

Catching up: GO. PIF. PUPPY. Charity Quilts, ETC

I have been trying my best to get caught up on all the things I have in the works... Tonight I quilted two of the quilts for Century Care Center and it looks like that is what I will be doing all week. I have 7 that I am trying to get finished so they can be delivered to the center.  There is also a box of goodie bags, eyeglass cases, book marks, books, and cards that will be delivered as well.  I think Peggy will be delivering 30 tote bags to a abused women and childrens shelter from our group. WOCS has been really busy and we have had a wonderful year with all the donations we managed to produce.

I also want to let you all know that my GO has made it safe and sound.  The lady from JoAnn's  mailed it on a Monday and I had it the next day.. BUT I have been good and I only opened it long enough to look at it and show it to my husband.  He told me it needed to be wrapped, I think not... But with all that is going on, I won't get the chance to try it out until later... But it is here and I am Ohhhh and Ahhhh over the dies... So if you have a source for the dies at a really good price, Please let me know.

The main purpose for this post was to show you the wonderful bag I recieved in the mail.  I haven't had time to post about it till now..  This past summer I participated in a Pay it Forward giveaway... I think it was the beginning of November when my gift showed up and I needed to wait until the other two ladies recieved their bags, after all I didn't want to spoil the surprise..  The Pay It Forward worked like this,,, my name was selected, and I would recieve a gift made be Marj... in turn I would select three people to send a gift I made to them and they would select three and so on and so on... The gifts I sent varied as I made them from what I learned from each lady.  Here is the gift I recieved from Marj..
Marj made me a lovely purse, and inside I found a appointment book, a tape measure, a quilt pattern and a box of Chocolates...
Have you been to Marj's site, it is the Eclectic Quilter, I visit her site quite often as she always has something in the works... Her quilts are just beautiful, she is always working on different patterns.. She also makes these purses and I noticed in a past post she made them and gave to her family and friends.. You should see the quality of Marj's work, it is stunning..  My Pay it Forward was fun.... but now I am into the mug rug swaps on my Yahoo group, CafeMoms...

I also made Mug Rugs for my Mother In Law, I bought a group of Christmas Mugs, filled them with Hot Chocolate mix and Teas, added some candies, put the Mug Rug around the Mug and wrapped in Tulle and tied with a bow.  She will be giving these to her friends, and family this holiday season..
So these boxes are ready to ship along with the Christmas Cards.. a quick trip to the post office and off they go.

Puppy Update:
All the puppies have been sold so there is no more pitter patter of little feet around the house.. They were fun but I was ready for them to go, after all the longer they are here the more attached I get..

Foot Update:
I did have another appointment with the foot doctor last week and I broke down and asked for the second injection in the foot. Not that I really wanted to go through that again, but the foot just isn't healing this time. I am doing a combination of Meds, injections, stretching exercises and Ice and it is just not getting better... But I think the last time I had this problem it took three injections before they worked....
