My Mother's Day

Finally my Iris bloomed after years of nothing but leaves... and it bloomed on Mother's Day

What a Mother's Day it was this year...  Hubby had been sick all week, pulled a muscle in his side from coughing so hard on Thursday, Friday he called Doctor's office and was put on pain pills and told to make appt Monday if it wasn't any better...  Thursday was also the day that I felt really bad, yep I had caught his cold.  By Friday I was so sick and he was no better, We both took nighttime cold meds hoping to get some sleep... but early Saturday morning the dogs started barking and would not quiet down... So I let them out and went to find our Roxy. I found her, and she was cleaning a puppy that she just delivered with another one on its way... So I hurried and got her whelping box to her, the puppy pads and other items for our early morning session... 5 hours later we had 6 puppies. Mom and babies settled down and were doing just fine and I headed back to bed.

 6 cute little Pomeranian Puppies

Hubby was planning to take me out for dinner on Mother's day, but that was out so I got a IOU... Talked to the kids so glad they stayed away as I would not wish this cold on any of them..  So my Mother's Day will take place at another time...

Monday we did head to the doctor's office and we both got med's..  a Z pack for me and for him something stronger... Things are finally starting to get a little better now that the med's are working.

Now on to work on the quilts for the cancer center.... our group stitched words of encouragement and the plan was to send to Sandy Hook Victims... we found out that they were no longer wanting donations as they received so many/  It was decided that the quilts would go to a Cancer center.. They will be having a event in June and the quilts will be presented at this event.  So I just need to finish them up.

Baby quilts are done

So sorry that I haven't posted sooner, but life just gets in the way sometimes..  Hubby is back from Ohio safe and sound.  But he did bring home a nasty cold, he has been fighting it all week. He has a fever, watery eye, cough, sore throat, the whole works.  I have been running for meds for him and making tons of hot tea to soothe his throat, which helps a little.  With his immune system being so weak I know it will take awhile for him to get over this cold.  Then it hit ME, I had been doing so good, not a cold all season and when he got one I steered clear. But not this time, he managed to share the cold with me.  So I am in the same boat as he with the sore throat, coughing and the whole works.  I hate being sick... At least I managed to get most of the yard work done last week.

 Baby Quilts

Last weekend, I met up with Peggy, the co owner of the stitching group I belong to. I delivered the three baby quilts that I had finished and this week two were delivered to Ronald McDonald House and the third one along with a baby quilt from another member went to the abused women and children's shelter. I still have 9 quilts for the nursing home to finish and when I feel a little better I will get those finished and out of here so I can start on the new batch. Plus I now have some great patterns for making soft dolls and animals out of felt.  My friend Dona has been making these type things along with puppets and capes for the children's hospital... Her sewing miles of smiles encourages people to sew and donate to their local hospital. So add another project to my list..

On a happy note, last week the last of the puppies left here for their new forever home.. Both puppies have wonderful new families and I know they will be taken care of and so loved... They are two lucky pups.

Well folks, that is about all for now, I think a hot bath, a cup of tea and a warm bed are in my future for today.
